25th January – Activity day
Star Club enjoyed a whole day of activities on the 25th January. While the teachers were working hard, Star Club were having fun baking!
Chocolate and banana cake and potato fritters were on the menu today; all of our children had great fun getting messy and even made a large cake for their teachers to try! Everyone agreed that the Star Club’s cake was the best ever ! After a short play outside, we then came back in and made keyrings, necklaces, earrings and even an extra set for a visiting bunny! After this, we enjoyed our packed lunches and had another play outside before settling down to our movie afternoon. Everyone agreed that they had a lovely day.
Star Club enjoyed not one but two Xmas parties and a great time was had by all.
The 12th of November saw the beginning of a new adventure – we are now, “The Cogenhoe Star Club!”
Each member of our new club will receive a star badge to wear with pride. Due to popular demand, we are now offering a 4.15pm collection time as well as our usual 5.15pm and popular 6pm collection.
To kick start our new adventure, our super stars have already conducted a business meeting with Mrs Oldham to discuss running their own business selling Christmas goodies. Please keep an eye open for posters going up around the school very soon with dates for our Christmas Market.
The new term started with Halloween – we decorated our “trick and treat” bags and had lots of fun scaring our teachers; we also made masks and spiders. We each had our own pumpkins to scoop out and Mrs Minney and Mrs Barnes carefully carved our designs for us. On bonfire night, we made bonfire cakes and rocket fruit lollies. We also discovered a new love for art in the shape of scratch paper and a stick !
For the 100th year anniversary of the end of The Great war, we thought it was important to show our gratitude to the many soldiers and animals that gave their lives for us. We hand made 100 red and purple poppies out of plastic bottles; these can still be seen in our display board at the front of the school.
Wow, what a busy few weeks we have had in After School Club!
We have been baking bread, decorating biscuits, creating art with cones, acorns and conkers and having lots of fun along the way!
